In September 2020, I joined Filmwerks LLC as a technical designer in their design team for the scenic and structures departments. The company specializes in temporary stages and sets for locations for national news and sports networks. While the structures department has been doing work for years, the scenic department is newer and growing quickly. Along with the temporary stages, Filmwerks has also done promotional products and new sets for local sports television studios.

While working there, my job took the design packet from the designers and created build drawings for our shops. Using a multitude of programs, I drew various set pieces for any given set, ranging from lightboxes to shipping crates to protect the set pieces as they are shipped across the country. With the help of the project managers, I was in charge of sourcing and ordering hardware for the various projects. If there are problems during the build, the shop foreman, the project manager, & I adjusted the plans, and I redrafted projects as needed for records or to assist the shop, keeping everyone informed of the changes.
