The decision to pursue technical direction came from a drive to learn more about building and designing the structures in theatre. One of the biggest hurdles was going back to school and deciding on getting a Master of Fine Arts degree at Florida State University. Throughout my time in graduate school, I have been surrounded by teachers and fellow students helping me growing my knowledge and helping me down the correct paths. Learning AutoCAD was a huge challenge, but it has become a great skill I have in my toolbox. I have learned how to  best manage people and create calendars and schedules help the team stay on track. Becoming a technical director would have unrealistic goal for me just three years ago, yet I have grown a lot and learned more good practices and safe working habits to lead a scenic team.
